In the second season of DPL, 27 -year -old Ankit Kumar, who was playing for West Delhi Lions, got into the opening and batting. Ankit’s bat was threatened against East Delhi Riders in a match on Sunday 10 August. In this match, East Delhi scored 158 runs while batting first. Opener Arpit Rana scored the highest 71 runs for him. After this it was Ankit’s turn to open for West Delhi and he beat the bowlers of East Delhi badly inside the powerplay.
Ankit created chaos in 16 balls
Ankit, who landed for the opening with Krish Yadav, shared a 63 -run partnership for the first wicket in just 4.3 overs. But out of these 63 runs, 42 runs came out of Ankit’s bat alone, who showed why West Delhi played on him. Ankit had hit a six in the first over, but the real havoc broke in the second over. In this over of Akhil Chaudhary, Ankit blew 4 sixes and scored a total of 26 runs.
Overall, Ankit gave 42 runs in just 16 balls, including 5 sixes and 2 fours. However, despite this innings of Ankit, his team had to face defeat because the middle order batsmen could not take advantage of this great start and could only reach the score till 156 runs. In this way West Delhi lost by 2 runs.
Captain will be made in place of Shubman Gill
Ankit had a lot of discussion with his powerful batsman in the last Ranji Trophy season. He was the highest run -scorer for Haryana in that season. He scored 574 runs in 14 innings at an average of 59. He received the reward of this performance recently, when he got a place in the team of North Zone for the new domestic season starting with the new Dalip Trophy.
