There are many months left for the new season of the Indian Premier League to begin. Before that, different types of news related to each team are coming. Kolkata Knight Riders are also one of them, which are being talked about trading or releasing some players. Also, there is a possibility of change in captaincy in the team. Whether it will happen or not, it will be known in a few months but currently the captain has changed in a team of this franchise with Shah Rukh Khan’s co-owner. Shah Rukh’s team Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), who played in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), has given the command to Nicholas Puran, changing captain after 6 seasons.

TKR announced this change a few hours before the start of the CPL 2025 season starting on 14 August (in India in India) in the West Indies. The four -time CPL champion Trinabago has changed the captaincy after a long gap of 6 seasons. Nicholas Puran, one of the most explosive batsmen in T20 format, has been replaced by veteran Caribbean all -rounder Kairan Pollard, who was the captain of this team since 2019 and made the team champion in 2020. Pollard described it as a decision to prepare the new generation and said that this was the right time to create a new captain with the arrival of Dwayne Bravo as the new head coach.

Puran became captain in CPL after MLC

The 29 -year -old left -handed Windies batsman Puran announced his retirement from international cricket a few months ago, so that he could give all his time in franchise cricket. It is now the reward of this that he has received as the captaincy of TKR. Puran also has a captaincy experience in the T20 league. He has already taken over the Lakhu Super Giants in some IPL matches, while in the US Major League cricket tournament, he is the captain of MI New York (Mumbai Indians franchise) and returned to the team by making the team champion this season.

Born in Trinidad and grew up here, Puran said that to represent this franchise and now take command of him. The first match of TKR under Puran’s captaincy will be held on August 17 with St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Career started with TKR

The special thing is that Puran started his career in T20 cricket with this franchise. In 2013, in the first season of CPL, he made his debut for Trinabago. He was 17 years old then but only after 2 seasons started playing for Barbados Royals from 2016. After spending 3 seasons here, Puran turned to Gayana Amazon Warriors in 2019 and returned to TKR in 2022 after the 3 -season journey here. Puran is one of the most successful batsmen of CPL and has scored 2447 runs in 114 matches for 3 different teams at an average of 28 and a strike rate of 152.
