Team India’s star batsman and captain Rohit Sharma’s future is under question. After retirement from T20 and Test cricket, now he is only active in ODI cricket but it is believed that he does not last long. In such a situation, there is speculation that Rohit will soon leave this format. But what do Rohit himself think about it? Rohit has not said anything at the moment about his retirement from ODI cricket, but a few months old statement has come to light, in which he had clearly told his intention not to take retirement.
In fact, Team India’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant shared the happiness of Independence Day in his style. Pant shared an old video of Team India on social media on August 15. This video was from the day when the Indian team won the Champions Trophy title after 12 years under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. In Dubai, on March 9, Team India won the title by defeating New Zealand in the final. The victory of Team India and the subsequent celebrations were seen by every fan on the TV screen, but Rishabh Pant also recorded it from his phone’s camera, in which he recorded the fun reaction and fun of the players of Team India.
Rohit said this on retirement
Now Pant has shared this video for the first time, in which stars like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya were seen having fun, but Rohit Sharma caught the most attention. Rohit was holding a stump in his hand and was walking with him. As soon as Pant reached Rohit with a camera, the Indian captain asked him- “Should I take retirement?” Pant replied to this that he wants to see Rohit playing for a long time. Rohit again said, “If you win every time, I will keep taking a little retirement every time.”
Happy Independence Day, India. 🇮🇳 some moments stay with you forever and winning for India is at the top of the list. Proud to be Indian.#Rp17 pic.twitter.com/pfgr1tg7da

On seeing this video of Rohit’s statement, it went viral on social media. Actually, Rohit was also a reason for saying so. Before the start of the tournament, such things were being said that after the final, he would retire from this format but he did not do so. Not only this, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20 International after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. In such a situation, Rohit then told in front of Pant in fun that he does not mind retirement from ODI.
Question on Kohli and Rohit’s future
However, this video is from March 9 and after that the Indian star retired from another format. Rohit announced retirement from Test format in May and thus he remained active in only one format. It is believed that coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar are not part of the future plan in the eyes of team management and BCCI. Not only Rohit, but Virat Kohli is also being seen from this point of view and it is being claimed that his international career can end with the ODI series on the tour of Australia in October.
