Shreyas Iyer, who is playing for West Zone in the semi-finals of the Duleep Trophy 2025, has been made the captain of India-A for the two unofficial Test series against Australia-A. Even though Iyer could not do anything special in the semi-finals of the Dalip Trophy, he would be expected to perform well against Australia-A. With this, he can also return to the Indian Test team. According to reports, he can replace the middle -order batsman Karun Nair. In such a situation, Karun Nair’s career is seen reaching the verge of ending.

The Australia-A team coming on a tour of India will start their campaign from 16 September. Iyer last played the Test match for Team India in February 2024. The first Test match against West Indies and India will be played in Ahmedabad from October 2. Former spinner Sunil Joshi has been made India-A bowling coach for the series against Australia-A. He is an assistant coach in Punjab Kings. According to TOI reports, they will join the team before the series starting from 16 September. Joshi has played 15 Tests and 69 ODIs for Team India.
