In the qualifier 2 match of IPL 2025, there was a great competition between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But after this match, action has been taken against the captains of both teams. Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer and Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya have been convicted of violation of the IPL code of conduct, due to which he has been fined. In this match, Punjab defeated Mumbai by 5 wickets to make their place in the final.
BCCI’s big action against Iyer-Pandya
This action on Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya was taken due to slow over rate. According to IPL rules, teams have to complete their overs within the stipulated time, and there is a provision of punishment for not doing so. This was the second over rate violation of the season for Punjab Kings, due to which Shreyas Iyer has been fined Rs 24 lakh. Along with this, all the members of the playing eleven of Punjab Kings, including the impact player, were fined 6 lakh rupees (or 25% of their match fees which are less).
This was the third over rate violation of the season for Mumbai Indians. Earlier, Mumbai was punished for slow over rate in both matches against Gujarat Titans. Hardik Pandya has also been fined heavy. Mumbai Indians captain Pandya has been fined Rs 30 lakh. The rest of the members of the playing XI, including the Impact Player, have been fined personally Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of their match fees, whichever is less.
Punjab chas 204 runs target
In this exciting match, Punjab Kings won the first toss and decided to bowl. Mumbai Indians batted first and scored a score of 203/6. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma played brilliant innings of 44-44 runs, but Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer won his team by playing a stormy innings of 87 not out in 41 balls. Punjab achieved this target by losing 5 wickets in 19 overs, and with this victory she reached the final after 11 years. Now she will play the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Narendra Modi Stadium on 3 June.
