Today, on 3 June 2025, the final match of the Indian Premier League 2025 will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This match will not only be an exciting battle between two magnificent teams, RCB captain Rajat Patidar and PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer has also brought a golden opportunity to create history. Both these players have a chance to get their name immortal in the record book.
Chance to win the fastest IPL title
31 -year -old Rajat Patidar is captaining RCB for the first time this season, he has a chance to make a unique record. If RCB wins this final today, then Patidar will join the list of captains who won the fastest title in IPL history. This achievement will make them stand with the selected captains who have named the trophy in the very first season of their captaincy. Till now only Hardik Pandya and Shane Warne have been able to do this feat. Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, Gujarat won its first IPL title in 2022, earlier in 2008 Shane Warne made the team champion in the first season.
Patidar has influenced everyone with his captaincy this season. The Madhya Pradesh batsman not only strengthened the team with his batting, but also brought RCB to the final with big decisions. At the same time, RCB demonstrated its strength by achieving the target of 101 runs against Punjab Kings in qualifier 1 in just 10 overs. In this victory, the captaincy of Patidar and the plan made on his behalf played an important role.
Iyer can become the first captain to do so
On the other hand, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has a chance to make a record that has never happened in IPL history before. If PBKS wins the title today, Iyer will become the first captain to win the title for two different franchisees in the IPL. Earlier, he captained KKR in the year 2024 and won the title to the team.
Let me tell you, Iyer made KKR the champion for the third time in the last season and this time PBKS included him in his team at a record price of Rs 26.75 crore. Iyer not only brought PBKS to the playoffs under his captaincy, but also gave a stunning victory against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, chasing 204 runs. Under his captaincy, PBKS performed well this season and made it to the top-2. Now Punjab is far away from its first IPL title.
