KKR vs RR IPL 2025 : It is the one team that made a tremendous come-from-behind victory in IPL 2025-Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a thrilling match, which started a do-or-die scenario to keep their playoff lives alive. Well, both bat and ball performance balanced, Knight Riders defined the chase-not only to be dominant but to chase energy and determination in sealing those two precious points.
Before this match, KKR was almost at the edge of the cliff done deal in terms of playoff hopes should they lose. But in facing this adversity, the team stepped onto the field fearlessly. The result: a convincing victory, throwing them into the sixth spot in the points table and back in the run for things.
Russell-Rinku Storm at Eden
Proceeding to bat first after winning the toss, KKR Captain Ajinkya Rahane’s decision did glimpse a bit of dysfunctionality to begin with, with Sunil Narine being dismissed for just 11 runs in the early seconds of the second over by Yudhvir Singh. In contrast to this, it was Rahane and Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Afghanistan who held the fort, sticking aptly to notch up a solid stand to shift KKR to 56/1 with two overs to close on the power play.
Though it looked like Gurbaz from that forefront was going to nail it out of the park, Maheesh Theekshana’s delivery came and claimed the breath out of the innings as Gurbaz registered a commendable 35 with the scoreboard showing 69/2 in 7.3 overs. Rahane too departed quite immediately with 30 runs off 26 balls.
After that, it was only entertainment.
Andre Russell, who had not scored a 50 for KKR in the last 406 days, then came alive. Coming in at No. 5, the Caribbean giant walloped 57 runs in 25 balls*, hitting 6 gigantic sixes with the old Russell style.
Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi supported down the order with a mature 44 from 31, and the ever-reliable Rinku Singh added the late flourish with a score of 19* from 6 balls, including 2 sixes. KKR ended up with a mammoth total of 207/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Rajasthan Royals Collapse Despite Riyan Parag’s Blitz
The Rajasthan Royals were off to the worst of starts as they set off in pursuit of 208 runs. Vaibhav Arora caught the man early in removing Vaibhav Surya, who later hit a boundary off his very first ball. The very next over had debutant Kunal Singh Rathore out for a duck from Moeen Ali.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Royals’ key hope, was looking dangerous but perished for a start, caught by Rinku Singh off Moeen. The Royals were reeling at 75/5, with mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy running riot.
Varun’s spell proved fatal as he sent Dhruv Jurel and Wanindu Hasaranga back without scoring, ensnaring the weak middle order of RR in his web. By then, the match looked resigned as far as recovery is concerned.
Riyan Parag’s Record-Breaking Sixes
In one of the most dramatic turns of events, Rajasthan’s skipper, Riyan Parag, turned the tide in an unprecedented way, much to the delight of the spectators.
In his fourth over, Moeen Ali was made a mere spectator as batting maestro Riyan Parag hit five consecutive sixes, amassing 32 runs off the over. The next over continued with another six off Varun Chakravarthy, which now meant six sixes off six legal deliveries across two overs unbelievable record.
The magnificent hitting of Parag suggested some hope for Royals’ fans as he raced to 95, but the moment he was dismissed, hope vanished. The Royals went down eventually, much to the jubilation of the Kolkata Knight Riders, who had just landed a thumping win.
