Ashwin’s female umpire fights : India’s legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently lost his temper in a match of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025, due to which he had to pay a heavy price. Ashwin, who is captaining Dindigul Dragons, has been sentenced for not being able to control his feelings on the field after a disinterested decision. The incident took place during a match played against Ideme Tiruppur Tamizians.
Ashwin was heavy to confront female umpire
The matter began when Ashwin was dismissed in the fifth over as part of an LBW decision against Idream Tirupur Tamizhans. The decision was made by left -arm spinner R Sai Kishore, when Ashwin tried to play a sweep shot but the ball hit his pad. The umpire considered it out, although the replays clearly showed that the ball was picked outside the leg stump, which is not considered valid for LBW. At the same time, Ashwin’s team had already lost both DRS reviews, so that they could not challenge this decision.
Angered by the umpire’s decision, Ashwin immediately objected to the field and started arguing with the umpire. His resentment increased so much that he started attacking his pad with a bat and reached the dugout and threw his gloves in displeasure. This scene became increasingly viral on the fans and social media present in the stadium. Ashwin’s reaction is considered rare in his long career, where he is usually known as a calm and strategic player.
Ashwin fined
In a hearing held after the match, the match referee investigated Ashwin’s behavior. He was imposed a fine of 10 percent match fee for objection to the decision of the umpire and 20 percent fine for misuse of cricket equipment. Overall, 30 percent cut made it clear that strictness is being taken in the league about discipline. A TNPL official told Cricbuzz, ‘The match referee heard after the match. Ashwin was fined 10 percent and 20 percent for misuse of equipment to show disagreement for umpires. They have accepted the fine.
