Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy : Despite hundreds of controversy, the name of the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy remains. However, former Indian cricketer Iftikar Ali Khan Pataudi’s tradition will survive, so a new award will be given to the series -winning captain. The Cricket Board of India and England made such a similar decision before the five -Test series began.
The India-England Test series is set to begin on June 23. The previous name of the series was the Pataudi Trophy. Currently the series is called Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. There was no less controversy over the name. It is also alleged that efforts are underway to erase Patoudi’s heritage. But even in such a debate, the name of the series is not changing. It is reported that the name of the series will be officially announced on June 7, the day before the series start. It was initially thought that the series would be named after a glorious event. But all the greatness of the Ahmedabad plane crash has been canceled.
After the name of the Pataudi Trophy was changed, Sachin Tandulkar himself was named after the new series. It is known that he has requested the England Board to maintain Pataudi’s heritage. Sachin later spoke to the BCCI. Then ICC chairman Joy Shah intervened the matter. It was then decided that the Medal of Excellence would be handed over to the series -winning captain. The award will be given to honor Patoudi.
England men’s cricket director Rob Ki said that the names of Sachin and Anderson are actually like bringing a fresh air in India-England bipolar. In the words of Rob, “the whole thing is extraordinary. These two cricketers are an extraordinary example for many fans of India and England. The relevance of the India England series increases a lot when their names are involved.” It is to be noted that the five-Test series in India-England will begin on June 25.
