However, due to experienced batsman Virat Kohli’s 76 -run innings and Suryakumar Yadav’s strong catch, Team India won the match against South Africa. Virat Kohli played valuable innings
Talking on Geographstar, Rohit said, ’13 years is a long time. I did not sleep at all before the final night of the World Cup 2024. I was very nervous and my feet were also heard. We had to leave at 8:30 or 9 in the morning but I woke up at 7 o’clock. From my room I was looking at the ground. It was just going on in my mind that in 2 hours I will stay there and the result will come in 4 hours. Either the World Cup will be ours or not.
In this match, Team India batted first and scored 176 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli, whose bat was silent in this entire tournament, showed his strength in the final and played a valuable innings against South Africa. Virat also won the Player of the Match Award in the final. Regarding Virat Kohli’s innings, Rohit Sharma further said, ‘It is very important for Team India to play for so long and it also helps you. You can control emotions and thinking and live in this moment. Some such Kohli must be thinking that on this day I have to bat with full focus and have not thought about it at all, which has happened before.
Rohit also remembered Suryakumar’s catch
In this match, South Africa needed 16 runs to win in the last over. Hardik threw the first ball of this over, on which David Miller wanted to play a big shot. The ball did not hit his bat well and Suryakumar Yadav caught a catch towards long off near the boundary line. Rohit Sharma praised Suryakumar Yadav.
He said, ‘After the catch, the umpire sent this decision to the third umpire and he wanted to see if Surya’s foot is not touching the boundary line. Everyone’s heart had come to the mouth. I felt that this ball had gone for sixes because I also stood towards the long off. But Suryakumar used the brain properly and completed this catch. When the ball was in the air, it seemed that it would go beyond the boundary line but Surya did not allow this to happen. I also asked him and he said that it is out.
