Prior to the second Test match between India and England starting on 2 July 2025, an incident took place in Birmingham city, which increased the tension of the players as well as the fans. The players were advised not to get out from the hotel in the Indian cricket team Birmingham. The reason for this was to meet a suspected packet at the Centenary Square of the city, after which Birmingham City Center Police immediately started action.

Team India ‘closed’ in hotel

At around 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon, the Birmingham City Center Police received a suspicious packet at the Centenary Square. After this, the police immediately established a security cordon in the Centenary Square and the surrounding area. Birmingham City Center Police said in a post on the social media platform X, ‘We have siege around the Centenary Square of Birmingham City Center and we are investigating a suspicious packet. We got information about this just before three in the afternoon. Many buildings have been evacuated as a precaution, while it is being investigated. Please avoid going to that area.

After this incident, the team members were forbidden to leave the hotel. A BCCI source confirmed PTI that the players were advised not to leave after the post on social media by Birmingham City Center Police. However, the police, however, removed the security cordon after an hour. Let me tell you, Indian cricketers usually roam the areas near the team hotel, due to which this decision was taken. Due to this incident, the players were advised to take special care.

Team India’s eye on winning

This match is going to be very important for Team India. The Indian team had to face defeat by 5 wickets in the first match of the series. In such a situation, India, captained by Shubman Gill, will have to win this match to return to the series. Otherwise, she will be quite behind in the series.
