In the Edgbaston Test, Team India lost the toss and got the first batting invitation. Shruat was poor and KL Rahul was dismissed for just 2 runs. But only after Ravi Shastri toss, Team India was seen raising questions and the reason for this was Gautam Gambhir and Shubman Gill. Actually, Jasprit Bumrah was missing from Team India’s playing XI and Ravi Shastri questioned it. Ravi Shastri said that if Jaspreet Bumrah was fit for this match, then he should have played this match.
What did Ravi Shastri say?
Ravi Shastri said in a conversation with Jio Hotstar that it is quite strange to not choose Bumrah in the playing XI. He said, ‘It is a very strange decision. If Bumrah was fit to play then this is a strange decision. This is an important Test match. It is necessary for Team India to win this match. Bumrah is an important player, no one but Bumrah should have played. Let me tell you that the first Test team has lost India and he has never won any Test match even in Edgbaston, which is why Shastri was seen talking like this.
Bumrah was available for selection
Team India captain Shubman Gill also said a day before the match that Jasprit Bumrah is fit for selection. However, he had also said that even if Bumrah would not play, he has 20 wickets options. Let me tell you that instead of Bumrah, Team India gave Akashdeep a chance, who specializes in swinging the ball. Not only this, Team India made two more changes. In place of Sai Sudarshan in place of Nitish Reddy and Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar attended the playing XI.
