Prithvi Shaw, once considered the future of Indian cricket, has taken a big step to give a new direction to his career. The 25 -year -old batsman, which has been out of Team India for a long time, recently decided to end his long relationship with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). For this, he sought the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from MCA, which he had also got. Now the name of Prithvi Shaw’s new team has been revealed.

Prithvi Shaw made his domestic cricket debut in 2017 and soon caught everyone’s attention with his aggressive batting. In 2018, he proved that he could be the next superstar of Indian cricket by scoring a century against the West Indies. But in the last few years, Earth’s career has been full of ups and downs. Issues related to fitness and discipline affected his career. He was dropped from Mumbai team in the Ranji Trophy season of 2024-25. Apart from this, he was not bought by any franchise in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Amidst these challenges, Prithvi decided to say goodbye to Mumbai for a new beginning.

In such a situation, Prithvi Shaw will now be seen playing for the Maharashtra cricket team. The Maharashtra Cricket Association also released a press release saying, “International cricketer Prithvi Shaw has officially broken ties with the Mumbai Cricket Association and will represent Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) from the upcoming domestic season. This strategic change is being seen as an important development in Indian domestic cricket, which will further strengthen the Maharashtra team. Shaw has played for India in all three format tests, ODIs and T20Is and has continuously impressed the Indian Premier League and domestic cricket with his aggressive batting and match winning abilities. Especially under his captaincy, India won the ICC Under -19 World Cup in 2018.
On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw said, ‘I am at this turn of my career, I believe that joining Maharashtra team will help me move as a cricketer. I am very grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received for years. The Maharashtra Cricket Association has made remarkable efforts to increase the infrastructure of cricket across the state in recent years. I am confident that being part of such a progressive setup would be positive. I am happy to get a chance to play with players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Rahul Tripathi, Rajneesh Gurbant and Mukesh Chaudhary in the Maharashtra team.
