  1. Sunil Gavaskar was born on 10 July 1949 in a middle -class Marathi family in Mumbai. But his family could have been completely different, if the mistake made in the hospital at birth is not caught.
  2. Gavaskar had revealed that in the hospital where he was born, a fisherman accidentally took him as his child. But as soon as his maternal uncle saw the other child, he understood that he is not Sunil and then the matter was resolved.
  3. His father’s name was Manohar Gavaskar, who was a club cricketer. Therefore, his full name is written Sunil Manohar Gavaskar.
  4. Sunil Gavaskar’s maternal uncle, Madhav Mantri, was a former Indian Test wicketkeeper, who played 4 Test matches for India.
  5. Gavaskar never wanted to become a cricketer but his first love was wrestling. He grew up and wanted to become a wrestler and was a fan of Wrestler Maruti Wadar.
