Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir is famous for his sharp attitude. His attitude is seen in aggressive rhetoric. Especially when it is to represent any team on the field. If it is to play for Team India, then they are ready to leave everything behind. Even on the tour of England, he is taking the team forward with this attitude. During the third match of this Test series, Gambhir once again revealed it and said that this tour is not like a holiday. But Gambhir said so?
In fact, Team India’s tour of England is more important than any player Gautam Gambhir. India’s performance in Test cricket has been continuously deteriorated due to Gambhir, who took responsibility for coaching last year. The England tour also made a poor start but the Pir team returned and registered a strong win in the Edgbaston Test. How important this series is for the Indian coach, it was known before the series started.
‘There have come a little here for holidays’
Before the start of the series in Leeds, Gambhir suddenly returned to India to see his sick mother and then joined the team back before the Test match. Gambhir gave the reason for his attitude to the purpose for which he is in England with the team. In an interview to Team India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara on the first day of Lord’s Test, Gambhir said, “The role of the family is important but you should remember that you have come here for a special purpose. You have not come here to celebrate any holiday. Very few people get to reach here.”
Defended decision to declare innings
Apart from this, the former Indian opener also defended his decision to declare Team India’s second innings late in the Edgbaston Test. Gambhir said that he and the team thought that England should be completely excluded from the match. Gambhir also said that he wanted to force England to play in his own style on the last day and also wanted to see if that team could defend 100 overs or not. As the last day was shown, England piled up for just 271 runs and Team India won.
Apart from this, the head coach also told that he is unable to be ‘switch off’ during a series, that is, he is unable to remove his mind from the match. Gambhir said, “As soon as we win the match, it happens in my mind what will be the playing-11 in the next match. I never switch off and think about the team”
