He has equaled South African veteran Quinton de Kock. Both Jamie Smith and Quinton de Kock have completed 1000 runs in 21-21 Test innings. Smith has named this achievement by beating his team partner Johnny Bairstow. In this match, when Smith was batting for 5 runs, KL Rahul gave up his easy catch in the slip.

Jamie Smith has played the least ball to complete 1000 runs in Test cricket. He completed 1000 runs off just 1303 balls. In this case, he has left Sarfaraz Khan behind, who completed 1000 runs off 1311 balls while playing for Pakistan. Former Australian player Adam Gilchrist is in third place in this list, who did this feat off 1330 balls.
