In the Lord’s Test match between India and England, veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane has expressed the desire of the heart in front of everyone. During an interview on the third day of the Lord’s Test between India and England, he told that he still wants to play Test cricket for Team India.

During an interview with former England captain Michael Atherton amid the Lord’s Test, Ajinkya Rahane mentioned his desire to return to Test cricket. When Atherton asked him if he had given up hope of returning to this format, Rahane said, ‘Not at all. I still want to play Test cricket for Team India. Coming here after a long time. I am here for a few days. I also keep my trainers (training kits) together so that I stay fit. The domestic season is also starting and preparations have also started for it.

The last international match was played in 2023
Ajinkya Rahane played the last international match for Team India in 2023 against West Indies. In this match, the Indian player scored only eight runs. The second innings was declared by Team India and that is why he did not get a chance to bat. Ajinkya Rahane has scored 5077 runs in 85 matches in Test cricket at an average of 38.46 and his best score is 188 runs. He has 26 half -centuries and 12 centuries in his name. One of these centuries came in 2014 at the same ground of Lord’s, which was won by Team India.
An experienced player against England has scored 840 runs in 21 Tests at an average of 22.70 and his best score is 103 runs. A great achievement of Rahane is that under his captaincy, Team India has defeated Australia in his house. Team India had won 2–1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21. In this series, the players of Team India performed a bang. Not only this, in 2017, in the unavailability of Virat Kohli, the four-match Test series against Australia was given 2–1. Team India has not faced defeat in a Test match under the captaincy of the Indian player.
