In the match between Surrey and Middlesex of T20 Blast 2025, the third umpire took wrong decisions not once but twice, seeing that the players of both teams were also surprised. In this match, the third umpire took both the wrong decisions during the batting of Middlesex.
Know the whole matter
The 12th over of the Middlesex’s innings, Will Jacks bowled a ball to Luus du Ploy, on which the Middlesex captain tried to play the reverse sweep shot, but he missed the ball and the wicketkeeper caught the ball and stumping the ball. Surrey players appealed for stumping after which the field umpire sent the decision to the third umpire Nigel Long. Replay revealed that Luca du Ploy’s leg is inside the crease and he is notout. But by mistake, the technician gave a signal of outs instead of notout. But later it was corrected and Luca du Ploy narrowly survived.
After this, Stephen Eskinaji played the ball comfortably in the 14th over and he ran for a run. In such a time, the Surrey player threw the ball and the ball started going on the wicket. The players of the Surrey appealed for the runout after which a decision was again sent to the third umpire. It was seen in the replay that Du Ploy has reached inside the crease but still came out by writing out on the big screen. This time the verdict was not changed and the middle of the Middlesex’s captain disappointed and went back to the pavilion.
