Indian bowlers performed up and sometimes down in the Test series on England tour. This trend continued from the first Test match itself. The effect was that Team India lagged behind in the series before the fourth Test match. But while there was a lack of continuity in the line of Indian bowlers and control over the length, in one case, the bowlers performed the same in every match and this was the lack of discipline. From the first match itself, the Indian bowlers crossed their limits and there was no improvement in the fourth Test in Manchester. The team’s star fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah was at the forefront of this matter.
For the first time in the fourth match of this series of five Tests, Team India’s bowling was seen to be the most breathless. No bowlers of Team India including Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj in England’s first innings on Old Trafford’s ground were able to constantly trouble the English batsmen. The effect of this was that England had taken a lead of more than 180 runs in the first innings by the third day. But the Indian bowlers saw a lack of dysplin more than the edge and speed.
In fact, England’s batting started on the second day of this match and from the first over, the Indian fast bowlers failed to get the right control. This series continued till the end of the third day. During this time, the Indian bowlers carried their border i.e. bowling crease several times, which benefited England as an additional run. Team India had bowled a total of 136 overs by the end of the third day’s play and came to a total of 13 no-balls. The highest number of 5 no-ball team’s most experienced fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah also did it.
Not only Bumrah, but other bowlers also left no stone unturned in this matter. Young fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, who is making his debut with Manchester Test, made no-ball 4 times in 18 overs bowling. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja, who was notorious to do no-ball, did not stop here and 3 no-balls also joined his account in 33 overs. At the same time, Shardul Thakur also did 1 no-ball. Mohammad Siraj and Washington Sundar showed discipline in this case. Siraj did not make this mistake even once in 19 overs.
