Not only this, England scored 669 runs and also took the record of the biggest score in Old Trafford. England broke Australia’s 61 -year -old record of the biggest score on this ground. Earlier, Australia had declared the innings for 656 runs in 1964. As far as the match is concerned, England took a big lead of 311 runs in the first innings on Team India with this score.

England captain Ben Stokes played a big role in taking England to this record score. Stokes, which was constantly failing in the series before the Manchester Test, scored a great century. Stokes scored a test century after more than 2 years and scored 141 runs. Along with this, this happened in Test cricket after 42 years, when a captain took 5 wickets in the innings and scored a century. Stokes took 5 wickets in Team India’s first innings. With this, Stokes became the first Indian captain to do so.
