Indian team’s young batsman Sai Sudarshan batted brilliantly in his first innings of the Manchester Test and played a valuable innings of 61 runs. However, in the second innings, he was dismissed without opening an account on his first ball. He could not understand the best ball of Chris Woakes at all and was out. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has given a big statement about his poor performance. He has supported Sai Sudarshan and has made a big charge against Indian Test captain Shubman Gill and Head Coach Gautam Gambhir. According to Ricky Ponting, both put a lot of pressure on the young player.
Ponting supported Sudarshan
After Sudarshan was dismissed on the first ball in the second innings, Ricky Ponting while talking to Sky Sports said, ‘It just brings pressure on the player. Such pressure is not necessary for any young player. The new player does not need to pay attention to whether he will get a chance again or not. In the first Test, you included Sudarshan in the playing XI, after that you distanced him and then in the fourth Test match he again came to the team. I was also surprised to see this. The young player always wants his captain and coach to support him.
Sai Sudarshan got a place in India’s playing XI of the first Test match played in Leeds. In this match, he scored 0 and 30 runs. However, he was dropped in the second Test. Not only this, he did not get a chance even in the third Test. Karun Nair got a place in the playing XI again in the fourth Test match due to his continuous poor performance. In the first innings of the fourth Test match, Sudarshan batted strongly but in the second innings he could not even open his account.
Gill and Rahul’s partnership
Talking about the Manchester Test, till the end of the fourth day, India had scored 174 runs losing two wickets in their second innings. In this match, India scored 358 runs in their first innings, in response to which England scored 669 runs. Joe Root scored 150 runs in the first innings for England while captain Ben Stokes contributed 141 runs. In this way, England had a lead of 311 runs. His start in India’s second innings was quite bad and he had lost the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudarshan without opening an account in the first over.
