New Zealand won against Zimbabwe in the first Test match. In this match, New Zealand performed amazing in batting as well as bowling. Veteran fast bowler Matt Henry took 9 wickets and destroyed Zimbabwe’s batting lineup completely while bowling deadly. No batsman could score a half -century in both innings from Zimbabwe.
New Zealand won the first Test
In the first Test, Zimbabwe collapsed for 149 runs in his first innings. On behalf of the team, captain Craig Ervin scored 39 runs while T. Tassiga scored 30 runs. For New Zealand, Matt Henry took 6 wickets while bowling deadly. He did not allow any Zimbabwe batsman to dominate him and take wickets in continuous intervals. Apart from Henry, Nathan Smith took 3 wickets in his name.
In response, New Zealand scored 307 runs losing all wickets in their first innings. For the team, Devon Conway scored 88 runs while batting brilliantly. He hit 12 fours in his innings. Apart from Devon Conway, Deril Mitchell contributed 80 runs. Apart from these two players, opener Will Young scored 41 runs while Henry Nicholas contributed 34 runs. For Zimbabwe, Blessing Mujarbani took three wickets while Tanaka Chivanga took 2 wickets.
Zimbabwe’s innings failed
Zimbabwe failed to bat well even in the second innings and could only score 165 runs. In the second innings, Sean Wilims scored 49 runs for the team. He hit 6 fours during his innings. T. Tassiga contributed 27 runs. In the second innings for New Zealand, captain Mitchell Santner took 4 wickets while Matt Henry and William O’Ruqi took 3-3 wickets. New Zealand had a target of 8 runs to win this match and he won this match by losing one wicket.
New Zealand is ahead in the series
New Zealand has won the first Test match and is 1-0 ahead in the two-match Test series. New Zealand will be very happy with its performance. Now the second Test match between these two teams will start from 7 August. If Zimbabwe has to match the Test series, then it is very important to win the second match.
