The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England started without any controversy but the situation changed till the last match. The third Test match played at Lord’s continued till the last Test match at the Oval. Not only the players of both teams, but the umpire also became part of the conflict. Something happened in the Oval also when there was a fierce debate between Team India vice-captain KL Rahul and Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena on the second day of the match.
The atmosphere heated by the collision of the famous-root
England started their batting after Team India was all out for 224 runs on the second day of the last match of the Test series. For him, Ben Docket and Jack Croly started the attacker and shared a 92 -run partnership. Both of them pushed the Indian bowlers on the backfoot while raining the boundary. The effect of this was seen on Team India for a long time and due to this the atmosphere was heated.
All this happened in the 22nd over of England’s innings. The root was dodged on the fifth ball of this over of the famous Krishna. In such a situation, the Indian fast bowler said something to Joe Root, to which Root gave a slight reply. But as soon as Root hit the last ball of the over, the famous then started speaking something to him and the route erupted on this matter. The English batsman replied to the famous and said something angry.
Rahul and Dharmasena clashed
It was here that the umpire and Rahul came face to face. Seeing the growing war of Root and the famous, umpire Dharmasena stopped both and instructed the Indian bowler to avoid doing so. In this match, KL Rahul, who was vice-captaining Team India, did not like this and questioned the umpire Dharmasena whether Team India should remain silent? This conversation was like this-
Rahul: What do you want? We stay silent?
Dharmasena: Would you like that a bowler comes to you and said something? No, you don’t do this.
Dharmasena: No Rahul, we should not do this.
Rahul: What do you want from us? We just bat, bowl and go home?
Dharmasena: We will discuss this after the match is over. You cannot talk like this.
Will the umpire punish Rahul?
Now the question is, will the umpire Dharmasena take any action against the Indian opener and the bowler? It is clear in the laws of cricket that questions cannot be raised against the decision of the umpire in the field. Also, no debate can be made with the umpire. By doing this, the accused player may be fined as a punishment and at the same time demerit points can also be added to their names.
