Angelo Mathews Test retirement : One of the big tournaments of ICC has started the new season of WTC. The first match of the 2025-27 season is being played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Gaul. This is the match, after which Sri Lankan all -rounder Angelo Mathews will retire. This is the last match of his 16 -year Test career. Mathews is currently 38 years old. Mathews made his Test debut against Pakistan in the year 2009 at this ground. Since then, he has played many magnificent innings from Sri Lanka.

Angelo Mathews is third in the list of players scoring the most Test runs from Sri Lanka. He has so far scored 8167 runs in 118 Tests at an average of 44.62. This includes 16 centuries and 45 half -centuries. On the top of this list, Sri Lankan veteran Kumar Sangakkara is at the top of 12400 runs in 134 matches in Test cricket at an average of 57.40. Mahela Jayawardene has scored 11814 runs in 149 Tests at an average of 49.84. Mathews has also taken 33 wickets in this format. The first Test match to be played against Bangladesh will be his final match. Angelo Mathews will have the last chance to improve their records in their 119th and final Test match against Bangladesh from Tuesday.
Two -match Test series will be played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh
A two -match Test series will be played between these two teams. The first Test will be played from 17 June to 21 June while the second Test will start from June 25 and it will be hosted in Colombo by June 29. In the last cycle of the World Test Championship, both teams had performed disappointing, but now in this new season, players of both teams can be seen leaving their mark.
