Team India had to land in the last Test match on England tour without star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah was not a part of the Indian playing XI in the last Test match of the 5 match series at the Oval Stadium and was due to his workload management, which was the subject of discussion in this entire series. But now the Board of Control for Cricket in India is preparing to take a big decision in this matter. According to a report, Jasprit Bumrah can be selected in the same position when he is available for the entire series.
A report by the Times of India has revealed that the Indian board is going to review its current policy regarding Jaspreet Bumrah. This review is being done due to the uproar on Bumrah’s fitness and workload management on England tour. In fact, before this series, it was announced that Bumrah will play only 3 Tests out of 5. But which 3 tests would be, it was not clear.
BCCI will take a big decision on Bumrah
Its effect was seen in the last 2 Tests, where Bumrah played in Manchester but had to rest in the Oval, while the oval pitch was more helpful for the fast bowlers. But such a situation of Bumrah is now bothering BCCI as well. The report quoted BCCI sources as saying that in this situation it is becoming difficult to make a team selection plan for any Test series because the situation is not clear about which matches Bumrah will play and which not.
Not only this, it is believed that BCCI is going to take a big decision in this matter. The report states that BCCI can now consider choosing Bumrah in the same series where they are all available for the match. For this, the medical team and the strength-conversion (S&C) will be responsible for the coaching team. The medical team will have to reveal Bumrah’s fitness before the team selection for every series. At the same time, the S&C team can set the limit of their workload on the basis of fitness.
Will you get rest in the next Test series?
Now when this policy of BCCI is applied properly, it will be known in the coming time. As soon as the Oval Test started, the BCCI announced the release of Bumrah from the squad of Team India. At present, Team India did not play any Test series before October-November. In this format, India’s next match will be from the West Indies at home, in which 2 Test matches will be played. It is possible to a great extent that Bumrah can be given a completely rest in it.
