On the Asia Cup 2025, the clouds of crisis are now decreasing. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided not to boycott the annual meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to be held on July 24 in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka. BCCI is now fully ready to participate in this program to be held under the chairmanship of PCB President Mohsin Naqvi. However, BCCI officials will not visit Bangladesh.
Big update on Asia Cup 2025
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to participate in this meeting to be held in Dhaka. This decision is being considered an important step towards ending the uncertainty on the venue of the Asia Cup 2025. The Asia Cup 2025 is to be hosted by the BCCI and the tournament can be played in the UAE. Cricket grounds like Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah of UAE are available. The UAE has already hosted the Asia Cup in 2018 and 2022. On the other hand, Sri Lanka is also in the race for host.
A source of ACC told PTI, ‘BCCI will be represented by its vice -president Rajiv Shukla, who is a nominated member of the ACC Board. There is a need to pay attention to the venue regarding the Asia Cup, so the BCCI decided to attend the meeting virtually. On the other hand, PCB President Naqvi is already in Dhaka for a meeting with several other member countries. A BCB source said, ‘Bangladesh Cricket Board is only one facility provider for the meeting. We are only providing equipment for the meeting. We have kept a contact officer who is making coordination with representatives of member countries, making arrangements for their travel and living.
Let me tell you, BCCI recently postponed his white ball (ODI and T20) tour of Bangladesh in August 2025 till September 2026. The political unrest in Bangladesh and lack of stable government were given an important reason behind this decision. In this context, the BCCI had already demanded ACC to change the location of the meeting to be held in Dhaka, as India is uncomfortable about the journey to the neighboring country. This situation further increased uncertainty about hosting the Asia Cup.
