Team India’s performance has not been so good in the Test series against England. This is the reason that after Lords Test, England fell 2–1 in the 5 match series. In this series, a lot of questions are being raised about the playing XI of Team India. Not only this, questions have also been raised on Shubman Gill’s captaincy as to why he is not giving Kuldeep Yadav a chance in the series. Now former captain Sunil Gavaskar has given a big statement about this. He has supported Shubman and said that only the captain needs the right to choose the playing XI of the team. He also said that this should not make any sense to the head coach that the captain wants to include the player in the team.

Gill got Sunil Gavaskar’s support

Sunil Gavaskar said on Sony Sports, ‘Finally this captain should be decided. It may be that Gill does not want Shardul Thakur in the team and he has to include Kuldeep Yadav. The captain must have included Kuldeep in the team. It is necessary to take their decision because people will talk about their captaincy.

Sunil Gavaskar further said, ‘We will not know what is happening in the dressing room. But the truth is that the responsibility of everything is the captain. They have to lead the team and they should also handle the playing XI. The coach should not mean anything from which the captain wants to include which player in the playing-11. Coaches did not live in our time. Former players lived with us as a manager. When we were captain, we did not have much pressure to choose the playing-11.

Shubman has done amazing batting

Shubman is the highest run -scorer in this series. He has scored 722 runs in four matches at an average of 90.25. Gill has scored four centuries in eight innings. He scored 269 runs in the second Test match played against England and this is his best score in this series. England are 2–1 in this Test series. He won the first and third Tests while India won the second match. Both teams will be eyeing winning the fourth Test match.
