Big decision of Pakistan Cricket Board (Photo- PCB Twitter)

Quaid-e-azam trophy: The Pakistan Cricket Board remains in the headlines for some strange reason. This time this board is in the headlines because one of its decisions has dropped Pakistan’s most successful domestic team out of the Qua-Azam Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board has made a big change in the domestic cricket structure and excluded the teams of Karachi with the country’s first class competition, Quaid-Azam Trophy. The PCB has reduced the number of domestic teams from 18 to 8. Due to this decision, both teams of Karachi have been ruled out of this big tournament.

Karachi is a 21 -time champion

Karachi teams, who have won the Quaid-Azam Trophy 21 times, hold the same place in Pakistan’s domestic cricket, which is from the Ranji Trophy record of 42-time champion in India. Last year, Karachi Whites and Karachi Blues took part in the Quaid-Azam Trophy, but this year they have been sent to the non-class Hanif Mohammad Trophy.

Hanif Mohammad Trophy format

In the Hanif Mohammad Trophy, 10 other regional teams with Karachi teams will participate in the pool format. The tournament will start from August 15, in which the top two teams will qualify for the Quaid-Azam Trophy. There are other 10 teams involved in this tournament: Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Phata, Lahore Region Blues, Hyderabad, Multan, Quetta, DM. Jamali, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Larkana.

New format of Quaid-Azam Trophy

Six teams for Quaid-Azam Trophy-Lahore Region Whites, Sialkot, Peshawar, Islamabad, Abbottabad, and Bahawalpur-have got direct entry. With two teams qualified for Hanif Mohammad Trophy, a total of eight teams will compete in 29 matches in single-League format from 22 September to 7 November. Sialkot is the defending champion of Quaid-Azam Trophy. Although the Pakistan Cricket Board has also closed the Champions Cup. This tournament was held for the first time, but this time it was closed, on which a lot of questions are being raised.
