Abhishek Nair retired from cricket from 2019. He has a lot of coaching experience. In 2018, he was the head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders Academy and then worked as an assistant coach in the Support Staff of Kolkata Knight Riders. In the Caribbean Premier League 2022, Nair has also worked as the head coach of Tribago Knight Riders.
Nair was the assistant coach of the team of Kolkata Knight Riders, champion of IPL 2024. After that, he was also an assistant coach of the Indian team that year, but the BCCI had finished his contract in less than a year. After this, he joined the Kolkata Knight Riders team again in IPL 2025.
