Although he returned to the field after a few minutes, but at such a time Rahul became the captain of the team and the decisions made during this time were taken by Rahul. But there was another reason for this happening. In fact, in the event of Gill going out, this responsibility was to come in the hands of the vice-captain Rishabh Pant, but Pant himself went out of the field in another session and did not return to the ground after that. In such a situation, the senior batsman of the team and Rahul who had captained earlier was given the command.

If we talk about Pant’s injury, then he suffered a left -handed injury in the second session while stopping a ball from Jaspreet Bumrah. Pant tried to stop the ball while diving but he could not do so. Shortly after this, he went out of the field. BCCI, while giving an update, said that the medical team is keeping an eye on Pant’s situation. In his place, Dhruv Jurael took the responsibility of wicketkeeping in the remaining part of the day. During this, he also caught a great catch off the ball of Ravindra Jadeja.
