In the second Test match being played between India and England at Edgbaston, the Indian team set a huge target of 608 runs in front of hosts England, which became a topic of discussion among cricket fans. Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad blamed the style of playing Badball for this big target. According to Stuart Broad, Team India scored such a big score due to fear of badgeball. But former India player Dinesh Karthik stopped speaking Broad with his reply.

The current team of England is famous for its aggressive and fearless batting style, known as ‘Bazball’. Stuart Broad said about this target given by Team India in the Edgbaston Test that it has been said that opposition teams are now changing the strategy to defeat England. Broad said, ‘You have to give credit to Bazball that the teams are trying to give England a target of 500-600 runs in the last innings.’ They believe that this style puts pressure on the opposition teams, due to which strong sides like India are also moving towards big scores.
However, Dinesh Karthik presented a different view, challenging Broad’s opinion. Karthik, who is part of the commentary panel, said that the decision to set a target of 608 runs was not caused by Bazball, but was taken in view of the current position of the pitch. Dinesh Karthik said, “Yes, but you also have to keep in mind how flat the pitches in England have become.” Karthik’s gesture was that Edgbaston’s pitch made the batting easy, due to which India decided to score a big score by longing its innings.
Batsmen scored fiercely
The Edgbaston Test saw a very strong performance from the batsmen. Team India scored 587 runs in the first innings. Which included a double century of Shubman Gill and half -centuries of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja. At the same time, England also scored 407 runs in their first innings. After this, India declared their second innings by scoring 427 runs. In this innings too, Gill managed to score 161 runs.
