India Women’s Squad for England Tour 2025 : While fans eagerly await the announcement of India’s men’s squad for the high-stakes five-Test series in England this June, the women’s team has already made headlines. On Thursday, May 15, the BCCI’s Senior Women’s Selection Committee revealed the ODI and T20I squads for the Indian women’s upcoming England tour — and there’s a major surprise. Star all-rounder Sneha Rana has made a comeback to the T20I squad after a long hiatus of 27 months.
Sneha Rana, Shafali Verma Return for England Series
Team India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, is all set to travel to England in late June. Even though the tour is still more than 40 days away, the selectors moved early to announce the squads, and one of the most notable selections is that of Sneha Rana, the spin-bowling all-rounder, who last played a T20I in February 2023.
Her return comes on the back of an impressive showing in the recently concluded tri-nation ODI series against Sri Lanka and South Africa, where she starred with the ball. Her ability to deliver in high-pressure situations makes her a key asset ahead of the World Cup.
Alongside Rana, Shafali Verma has also been included in the T20I setup, bolstering India’s aggressive opening options. The squad reflects a mix of youth and experience, with players like Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma adding stability and firepower.
Vital Series Ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup
Team India recently lifted the tri-nation series trophy in Sri Lanka, which served as excellent preparation for tougher challenges ahead. The upcoming England tour will begin with the first T20I on June 28, and will be followed by five T20Is, concluding on July 12.
Then comes the ODI leg of the tour, starting July 16, where India will play three crucial matches. These ODIs are especially significant because the Women’s ODI World Cup is scheduled to be held in India this September-October, making the England series a critical testing ground for combinations and form.
