Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer on Sunday played a memorable innings against five -time champions Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 qualifier 2. His stormy innings of 87 runs in 41 balls helped Punjab achieve a huge target of 204 runs in 19 overs, with which the team confirmed its place in the final. In this high-voltage knockout match, Shreyas performed brilliantly under pressure and gave his team a historic victory. After the match, he shared the secret of his success and also praised the players.

Iyer described the secret of his success in the presentation after the match. He said that he likes big opportunities very much and the greater the opportunity, the more calm they live. Iyer said, ‘I don’t know honestly, I like such big opportunities. I have always told myself and my team colleagues that the more calm you remain on the big occasion, the bigger the results will be achieved. Shreyas told that he was focusing on his breath instead of sweating during the match.
Shreyas praised every player of his team and said that everyone showed an aggressive attitude from the first ball. He said, ‘I took some time in the beginning because the batsmen were doing well from the other end. I know that the time I spend the time on the field, the better I can perform and my vision is also cleared.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya also praised Shreyas’s batting. He admitted that Shreyas snatched the match from Mumbai with his brilliant innings. Hardik Pandya said, ‘The way Shreyas batted, took opportunity and played some best shots, it was really amazing. Punjab batted very well. However, he cited his team’s bowling lack as the reason for defeat. He further said, ‘It is necessary to use the right length in such big matches and the right bowler at the right time, which we could not do. They put us under pressure and I think we could not perform in the way we wanted.
