Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID), President of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) A.K. Jagan Mohan Rao and 4 big officials have been detained. This action has been taken in connection with the investigation of serious allegations made by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the 2025 IPL season. For questioning in this case, HCA President Jagan Mohan Rao, Treasurer C. Srinivas Rao, CEO Sunil Kante, General Secretary Rajendra Yadav and his wife G. Kavita has been detained.
SRH’s team had made serious allegations
The dispute began when Sunrisers Hyderabad wrote a letter to BCCI and IPL Governing Council, making serious allegations against HCA. The franchise claimed that HCA officials are constantly threatening him, especially for demanding free tickets (Complimentary Pass). SRH also said that if this situation persists, he will consider shifting his domestic matches to another state from Hyderabad. Taking this matter seriously, Telangana Chief Minister A.K. Revanth Reddy recently ordered an inquiry into the dispute.
In such a situation, there have been big revelations in a report of Telangana Vigilance Commission. The investigation of the Telangana Vigilance Commission revealed that Jagan Mohan Rao and the rest of the HCA officials pressured IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad to get more than 10% tickets. These also included tickets for personal sales, which are considered against the rules. In addition, during a match, HCA members allegedly shut down the corporate box to force SRH to give more tickets.
Will the team of SRH change the venue?
This incident has become a major controversy in Indian cricket, as it is not only a conflict between a franchise and a state cricket association, but also questions the credibility of big tournaments like IPL. If SRH decides to change the venue of its domestic matches, it will be a major setback for the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, which has been a popular IPL ground for the last several years.
