The sixth season of Sri Lanka’s famous Cricket League Lanka Premier League starts from 27 November. This was confirmed by Sri Lanka Cricket on Friday, August 1. Now in the season to be played, the players will be expected to perform strong. Sri Lanka Cricket has made a big disclosure about its venue with the announcement of the next season of the league.

Tournament will be played in three venue

Sri Lanka Cricket has announced that Lanka Premier League matches will be played in three venue. These are the three venues R. Premdasa Stadium (Colombo), R.K. Dambula International Cricket Stadium (Dambula) and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (Pallekele). According to the tournament director Samantha Dodanvela, the local players of Sri Lanka will get to learn a lot from the Star International Cricketer in the season to be played by the Lanka Premier League.

Not only this, all the players will also get a chance to get ready before the T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka next year. The tournament will start from 27 November and its final match will be played on 23 December.

LPL’s most successful franchise

So far, five seasons of the Lanka Premier League have been played, out of which Jaffna Kings have named the trophy of this season four times. He is the most successful team of this tournament. Apart from Jaffna Kings, B-Bhav Candy won the 2023 season once.

Talking about the 2024 season, Jaffna won by 9 wickets against Galle Marvels in the final. Batting first, Galle scored 184 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs, in response to which Jaffna won the match within 16 overs. From the team, Riley Russo played a 106 -run not out match winning innings with the help of 9 fours and 7 sixes off 53 balls.
