MS Dhoni ICC Hall of Fame : Former captain of the Indian cricket team MS Dhoni has been given great honor by the International Cricket Council. Former veteran captain Dhoni, who made Team India a 2 -time world champion, has been given a place in the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame. During a special event before the final of the World Test Championship in London, ICC gave 7 veterans of world cricket to the hall of fame. Dhoni’s name first came from India. In this way, Dhoni became the 11th cricketer of India to get a place in the hall of fame.

World champion captain Dhoni received honors

Every year many great players of world cricket are given a place in the Hall of Fame by the ICC. The ICC started in 2009 to cherish cricket heritage, inspire the upcoming generation cricketers and to honor the veterans who brought the game to the heights. Since then, this special event is organized by ICC every year. This time it was organized in London just before the WTC Final and 7 veterans were included in it.

Dhoni, who made his international debut in 2004 and commanded the Indian team for the first time in 2007, was given this honor for his brilliant captaincy, memorable career and contribution to cricket. Dhoni, who played more than 500 international matches for India, won the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. Apart from this, he also took Team India to the number one rank in Test cricket.

Many great players including Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid have been included in the ICC Hall of Fame in the last years. This time Dhoni got this honor. Dhoni became the 11th player of India to get this honor. Before them, these 10 players have been included in the Hall of Fame- Kapil Dev (2009), Sunil Gavaskar (2009), Bishan Singh Bedi (2009), Anil Kumble (2015), Rahul Dravid (2018), Sachin Tendulkar (2019), Veenu Mankad (2021), Diana Idulji (2023), Virendra Sawag (2023).

Apart from Dhoni, 6 other veterans from different countries were included in the Hall of Fame in this event held on Monday 9 June. It has been selected for former Australia opener Matthew Hayden, former South African veteran Grem Smith, South African veteran Hashim Amla, former New Zealand captain and star spinner Danian Vetory, former captain of Pakistan women’s team Sana Mir and former England women’s cricket team’s former wicketkeeper-bowler Sarah Tailor has been selected for this great honor.
