Next Fab Four in Cricket : Currently world cricket is going through a transition period. The stars of the past decade and a half are slowly moving back. Virat Kohli has retired from Test and T20, Steve Smith has moved away from ODIs, Joe Root and Twenty20, and Ken Williamson has not played any more Twenty20 after the loss to Papua New Guinea in last year’s Twenty20 World Cup. That is, the ‘Fab Four’ era of cricket is almost at its end. All are now around 5, and within a few years they will say goodbye to cricket.
The question arises in this situation – who is after Kohli, Williamson, Smith and route? Did the next ‘Fab Four’ find world cricket? According to Williamson, yes. Former New Zealand captain has recently said the names of four young cricketers who may be the new fab 4 in world cricket in the coming days. Surprisingly, there are two Indians on this list.
Williamson said, “Those who come to my mind are Yashwi Jaswal, Shubhman Gill, Rachin Rabindra and Harry Brook.” He added another name. His name is ‘Cameron Green.’ Why, “They are all talented and have shown extraordinary performance in all formats.” They are young, and their game is turning into more day by day. ‘
Who was the real ‘Fab Four’?
The word ‘Fab Four’ was initially used for the four legends of the Indian Test team – Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Gangopadhyay, Rahul Dravid and VVS Lakshman. Later, Virender Sehwag was added to the list as the fifth member.
Then the new era began by 2022 – now the ‘Fab Four’ became the world’s four batting superstar: Virat Kohli (India), Steve Smith (Australia), Joe Root (England) and Ken Williamson (New Zealand). These four have become the backbone of their country’s batting in the last 5 years, even when stars like David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Tom Latham or Johnny Bairstow were in the discussion.
Williamson is not the only one who called the future Fab Four. Earlier, two former England captains Nasser Hussein and Michael Atharton also voted on the matter. Hussein was on the list – Joswal, Brook, Travis Head (Australia) and Saim Ayub (Pakistan). Atharton left Rachin Rabindra, Harry Brook, Jaswal and Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka.
Joswall’s bright start
Yashwas Jaswal has already made a great start in his Test career. He made a century in his debut, and he scored more than 5 runs in the home series against England. Joswal was one of India’s most trusted in the tour of Australia where most batters failed last year. He played a major role in India’s victory in Perth Test and scored 5 runs at an average of 6.5 at the end of the series.
The performance of these young people is indicating that they will lead the next day’s cricket, just as Kohli-Smith-Rot-Wiliamson did.
