In the Manchester Test, the captain of the Indian team was expected to perform a strong performance from Shubman Gill and he did not disappoint the fans and scored a valuable century in the second innings. India’s two wickets fell without opening an account in the second innings. However, after this Gill scored 103 runs while batting tremendously. On the basis of this century, the Indian captain scored 722 runs in the first four Tests and with this he has made a strong record.

Indian Test captain Gill has scored 722 runs in four matches in the series against England at an average of 90.25. With this, he has become the highest run -scorer in a series in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) as captain in Tests. He has equaled West Indies veteran Sir Gary Sobers who scored 722 runs in five matches against England in 1966.
Second place in this list is former South African captain Grame Smith, who scored 714 runs against England in just five matches. The next name is of the Volley Hemond of England. He scored 609 runs in five matches in 1939 against South Africa, while Australia’s Alan Boarder in fourth place in the list, who scored 597 runs against England in 1985 in 6 matches. Gill has reached the top leaving all these veterans behind.

In the first innings of the first Test match played in Leeds, the Indian captain scored 147 runs while in the second innings he was dismissed by eight runs. After this, in the second Test match, he scored 269 runs in the first innings while in the second innings he contributed 161 runs while batting strongly. He has the best score in this Test series 269 runs. In Lord’s Test match, he scored only 16 runs in the first innings, while in the second innings he could not score a big score and was dismissed for 6 runs. In the fourth Test match, he returned to the best form and scored a century in the second innings for India.
