There have been many such cases in Indian cricket for some time that cricketers are cheating a lot in their age. This problem has been going on not only cricket, but for many years in Indian sports. But now the Board of Control for Cricket in India is preparing to improve it in its scope and is taking a big step for this. The BCCI has now prepared to appoint an external agency to examine other information including the age of the players.
BCCI took a big step
According to the report of Cricbuzz, the Indian Board identifies the right age of the players with the help of the two-tier age verification system. This system includes first documents and tests of birth certificate. After this, there is a bone test in the second, which is usually called TW3 i.e. Tanner Whitehouse 3. These verification is mostly done at the level of under 16 boys and under 15 girls.
Now BCCI has decided to get the same work done by a profession agency. For this, RPF i.e. request for proposal has been released recently in which many well-known companies were invited to bid, which could provide this investigation service. For this, the agency will be appointed by the end of August.
Apart from this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India will also look carefully at Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID and all other evidence. The process of these investigations by the Indian Board will be held in July and August. Players will now have to pay attention to all these things. If any player is caught in it, strict action will be taken on him.
These players are trapped in the age-force
There was a mess in the birth date of Indian team player Nitish Rana. In 2015, BCCI banned 22 players from Delhi for disturbing the age. Nitish’s name was also included in this. Nitish was banned to play the age-group tournament. Apart from this, there is a continuous conversation about the age of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the young batsman of Rajasthan Royals. However, all these claims have proved wrong.
In this list, there are also Manjot Kalra of Delhi, who played an important role in winning the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He scored an unbeaten 101 runs in the final. Because of which Team India had won the World Cup. Kalra was banned for two years from age-group cricket due to the age fraud in the year 2020. Also, he was banned for one year on playing Ranji Trophy.
Conditions laid for agency
For the agency that will be appointed, the board has also laid down certain conditions. According to the report of Cricbage, bidding agencies should have at least three years of experience, in which they have provided background verification services for a big firm such as corporate companies, education boards/institutes, and recruitment.
In addition, agencies participating in the bid should have networks across the country or they should be able to investigate in both states and union territories in both physical and digital ways. Especially in rural areas, if needed, field should also come to check and investigate.
