T20 World Cup 2024 will hardly be able to forget an Indian fan. India won this tournament played in the West Indies. On the one hand, while this tournament is memorable for India, on the other hand this T20 World Cup was no less than a punishment for the players of a team. It is being talked about the players of Oman cricket team whose career has been ruined after this T20 World Cup. Oman’s team also participated in this T20 World Cup. This team managed to qualify for the tournament by creating history, but now almost the entire Oman team is not part of the setup. Many players have left the country, as Oman Cricket has refused to pay the players to pay 225,000 US dollars, which they were to get to teams from 13th to 20th in the T20 World Cup.

Oman’s prize money dispute

The ICC had announced a total prize money of US $ 11.25 million for the T20 World Cup 2024, with the winner India received $ 2.45 million. But according to the World Cricketers Association, many participating boards have not given full prize money to their players. Violation of Oman is the most serious, as the 15 -member team received not a single penny of $ 225,000. According to the ICC participation conditions, all the members boards have to pay the players within 21 days of the end of the tournament. The ICC confirmed that this amount was given to Oman cricket, but it did not reach the players.

Players had to leave the country

Some players of the Oman cricket team raised this issue in front of the team management and board many times, but no result was found. Players again raised this issue before the T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup held in Oman last October. This time, he threatened to unite and refuse to play, after which the matter worsened. The players were threatened with the team. The players got the ultimatum that either they should play or the board is ready for the first match against the UAE.

When the players refused, and they were asked to pack the goods from the hotel. The team selected for the scorecard and tournament of that match shows that large -scale changes were made in the last minute. Out of the 15 -member team announced before the tournament, only five players played in the first match, and only two players from the World Cup team played against the UAE.

Unemployed players

After this dispute, many players had to leave Oman. Like the Gulf countries, the residence in Oman is associated with employment visas, and many players’ visas and employment were canceled, causing them to leave the country. Fayaz Butt, who played 30 ODIs and 47 T20I for Oman in five years, told ESPNcricinfo that it has been a big loss for his career. He had to leave Oman and he is unemployed today. The question is, what is the ICC doing on this matter and will the players of Oman get justice?
