The new head coach of Pakistan’s Test team has been announced. This responsibility has been entrusted to former Pakistani cricketer Azhar Mahmood. By the way, Azhar Mahmood will be the acting head coach of the Pakistani team. Meaning, Azhar Mahmood will take over this responsibility until Pakistan Cricket Board announces full time head coach. Azhar Mahmood played 21 Test matches for Pakistan, in which he took 39 wickets and also scored 900 runs with the help of 3 centuries with his bat. Let us tell you that Azhar Mahmood is among the few players of Pakistan who have played in the IPL.

Preity Zinta’s IPL team Punjab Kings gave Azhar Mahmood a chance in the IPL first. He played for Punjab Kings in the year 2012. In 2013 too, he remained in this team. Azhar Mahmood received more than 10 lakh amount in both the season. After this, he was not bought by any IPL team in 2014, but then Kolkata Knight Riders bet on this player for Rs 50 lakh. Azhar Mahmood’s record in IPL was amazing. The player played 23 IPL matches in which he took a total of 29 wickets. His economy rate was also at just 7.82 runs per over. In the batting, Azhar Mahmood scored 388 runs at an average of more than 20, including 2 half -centuries.

As a head coach Azhar Mahmood’s first assignment will be a domestic series against South Africa. A two -Test series will be played between the two teams in October. After this, Pakistan’s team will play a two -Test series on Bangladesh tour next year. Overall, Pakistan has to play only one Test series this year, which is why Azhar Mahmood has been appointed by PCB as acting head coach.
