Ankit was banned by BCCI in 2013, but in 2021 it was reduced to seven years. After this, Ankit returned to the club cricket in the year 2023. He continued to play cricket for Karnataka Sports Club in Mumbai. Apart from this, he passed the Level-1 examination for coaching of cricket. After this, in June 2021, BCCI reduced the ban on all to seven years. Ankit has played 18 first class matches for Mumbai. In this, he has taken 571 runs and 53 wickets. Apart from this, he has participated in 13 IPL matches from Rajasthan Royals, in which he took 8 wickets.

The Mumbai Cricket Association has also announced coach and selector appointments for the domestic season. Onkar Salvi will remain the head coach of the Mumbai Ranji team.
