Rawalpindi Stadium Drone Strike : Boiling tensions between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindur have now spilled into the world of sports. In traumatic development, a suspected Indian drone strike caused a huge damage was caused to the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, a few hours before the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match on Thursday evening.

According to military sources, Pakistan was planning to attack 15 Indian cities, claiming that a conspiracy had failed by Indian forces. In turn, India started a series of drone operations, in which one air defense system was destroyed in Lahore and another struck Rawalpindi – a major PSL place.

The stadium will organize a high voltage collision between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings at 8 pm. However, due to severe concerns of damage and security, the match has been postponed and relocated. A full blackout was implemented in Rawalpindi from 7am to 5pm, and directing will be implemented till the next notice.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that all other PSL matches will now be relocated to the National Stadium in Karachi. An emergency meeting has also been convened to evaluate the future of the tournament amid a growing crisis.

Local reports indicate that the drone is being used for surveillance purposes. The explosion not only damaged parts of the stadium but also affected the nearest restaurant. Police have cordoned off the area, and an investigation is underway.

The deteriorating situation has caused panic among foreign players, especially the English squad. PSL-Sem Billings, James Vince, Tom Curen, David Willey, Chris Jordan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and Luke Wood are seeking at least two immediate exits from the seven England players.

David Ville and Chris Jordan, currently part of the Multan Sultan franchise, have expressed their desire to return home. Sources suggest that they have contacted their team management about leaving the country due to fear of security.

Both players believe that at any moment the Indo-Pakistan standoff can proceed to a full-scale war. Multan is already out of the Playoff Race and only one league match is left, both hoping for the early release. However, no official response has been given by the franchise so far.

Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) tournaments are said to be in constant contact with all the English players and coaches involved in the tournament. Former cricketers Ravi Bopara and Alexandra Hartley are also in Pakistan in the role of coaching and are closely monitoring the situation.

With military conflict looming and PSL operations in the mess, the cricketing world looks alarmingly because the geographical political stress takes the central stage – not only international diplomacy, but also the game of gentlemen.
