Diageo Plc operates RCB through the United Spirits LTD in India. Sources say Diageo has already started discussions with some potential investors. Although the formal price of the franchise has not yet been fixed, a report by Bloomberg said the owner could ask for a price of up to US $ 2 billion (about inr 5 crore) for the sale of the entire franchise.
British liquor maker Diageo Plc and their Indian branch United Spirits LTD are currently investigating the possibility of selling partial or full ownership in RCB right now. It is reported that they are planning to sale by using a huge brand value of the franchise after winning the IPL. Diageo is also contacting investment consultants for this purpose.
The Shares of the United Spirits also had a positive impact after the news of the RCB sale came out publicly. The company’s shares increased by up to 5% on Tuesday morning. However, no final decision has been made on whether the franchise will be sold so far.
