There has been a big ruckus in the Test series being played between India and England. On the second day of the third match of the Test series at Lord’s, something happened that provoked Team India captain Shubman Gill badly and clashed with the umpire. Not only Gill, but star Pesar Mohammad Siraj was also seen arguing with the umpire. All this happened due to the ball, about which questions were already raised in this series. On the second day of the match, this debate took place between Indian captain and Bangladeshi umpire, Saikat Shafuddaula over the ball change.
On the second day of Lord’s Test on Friday 11 July, Team India made a great start and star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah gave England 3 big shocks within half an hour. The new ball also had a big role in this, which helped the ball to be swing and seam. This ball was taken after 80.1 overs on the first day of the match. In such a situation, it was expected that due to the new ball, it will last long but the questions arising about the Dux ball proved to be correct this time and it had to be changed after the bowling of just 10.3 overs.
Gill debate with umpire
It happened that after putting the fourth ball in the 91st over of England’s innings, Mohammad Siraj complained to the umpire of a change in the size of the ball. Umpire Saikat Sharafuddaula immediately checked it with his equipment and it became clear that the shape of the ball has changed. In such a situation, it was decided to change it and then one of the box filled with many balls was chosen. But as soon as this ball was given to the Indian team, he raised questions on it.

Captain Gill went directly to umpire Sharafuddaula and objected to the ball being given to this ball. Gill complained that this ball did not look 10-11 over old from anywhere, while it is clear in the rules that the ball is given in exchange for the ball, which is as old as the original ball or almost the same over old. But the umpire dismissed Gill’s talk and the Indian captain was enraged at this. Gill angrily snatched the ball from the umpire’s hand and started arguing with them. Then as soon as the ball reached Siraj, he and Akash Deep also questioned this. Siraj also approached the umpire and started saying that he did not look 10 overs from anywhere, but the umpire asked him to return for bowling.
Gavaskar-Pujara also raised questions
During this time, former Indian captain and great batsman Sunil Gavaskar, who is doing commentary, also questioned this. Gavaskar clearly said that the ball given to Team India, it looked not 10 but 20 overs because it did not have the same glow, which was seen in the previous ball. He questioned this decision of the umpire. At the same time, Cheteshwar Pujara also drew attention to the fact that since the arrival of this ball, Indian bowlers were not getting the same swing as before.
