Bumper boom in match fees after BCCI scheme

When Shubman Gill came to India’s Test team, then the player involved in the playing XI used to get a match fee of Rs 15 lakh. For the beginning of 2024, the same amount was given as match fees. In March 2024, BCCI brought its innocent scheme to bumper the Test match fees of the players. After the arrival of the scheme, those players of playing XI started getting a match fee of Rs 45 lakh, who played 75 percent or more matches in the season. Similarly, in 50 percent or more matches, the match fees of the players involved in the playing XI will be Rs 30 lakh. Whereas in a season, the players who play less than 50 percent matches will not get the benefit of BCCI’s incentive scheme.

Now after the arrival of BCCI’s incentive scheme, Shubman Gill looks at the match fee in exchange for a Test match, it shows an increase of 300 percent. Meaning, Shubman Gill now gets not 15 lakhs but Rs 45 lakh to play a test. The big thing is that now he is also the captain of the team, so he plays not only 75 percent or more but also in almost every Test match of the season.
