After several days of speculation and claims, there has finally been an official announcement to postpon Team India’s visit to Bangladesh. The Indian team was to visit Bangladesh for ODI and T20 series in the month of August but now this series has been postponed for 13 months. The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced this on Saturday 5 July and said that this decision has been taken in collaboration with Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The BCCI said in a press release on Saturday that both the cricket boards have taken this decision with mutual consent. Under this, Team India was to visit Bangladesh for the series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches, but now this series will be played in September 2026 instead of August 2025. The international cricket schedule of both the cricket team has been described as the reason for this decision. It has been told in the press release that the new schedule of the series will be announced at the right time.

However, for the last several weeks, this series was feared to be postponed and the real reason for this was being told about the tension in the relationship between the two countries. Since the coup that took place last year, there has been an increase in the relationship between Bangladesh and India. There was a constant conflict in Bangladesh due to the killings of Hindu minorities as well as the anti-India statements of the leaders there.
