Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy controversy : The India-England Test series is set to begin on June 23. The previous name of the series was the Pataudi Trophy. Currently the series is called Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy. There was no less controversy over the name. It is also alleged that efforts are underway to erase Patoudi’s heritage. In order to save that tradition, Sachin Tandulkar himself is in the room. That is, the name of the trophy has been renamed.
According to a cricket website, even if the name is erased, iftikar Ali Khan Pataudi’s memory is going on. One of the prizes given at the end of the match may be named after Patoudi. The England Cricket Board is likely to agree. And the main reason for this view is Sachin Tendulkar. It is known that he has requested the England Board to maintain Pataudi’s heritage. Sachin later spoke to the BCCI. Then ICC chairman Joy Shah intervened the matter. He is trying to maintain Pataudi’s tradition in the bilateral series.
A member of the Indian board said, “Changing the name of the Pataudi Trophy is a member of the entire England board. We had nothing to say. We had no role. We requested the ECB to make at least one of the prizes given after the match. The trophy was first given in the first anniversary of the first Test match between India and England. India won the Pataudi Trophy in England that year.
The fourth day of the World Test Championship Final was expected to be unveiled at Lord’s on Saturday. But in Ahmedabad, the England Cricket Board and the BCCI jointly decided to postpone the program. It is to be noted that iftifa Ali Khan Pataudi has played for both England and India as the only player. His son Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi has long led the Indian team.
