According to sources, a formal announcement in this matter can be made in the meeting of NDMC on June 12. This stadium is an indoor stadium. Where many competitions are organized. It has a capacity of 3035 people. This stadium is owned and management with NDMC. It is named after a garden of the Mughal era, which is known as Talkatora Garden. Now preparations are being made to name this stadium to Maharishi Valmiki Stadium.
Why will the name be changed?
During the Delhi Assembly elections, there was a demand to change the name of this stadium. BJP’s Pravesh Sharma had demanded to change the name of Talkatora Stadium to Maharishi Valmiki Stadium. They have been demanding to change the name of this stadium for a long time. They believe that it should be named after a big person, so that the youth can be inspired.
Actually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started his cleanliness campaign from the Maharishi Valmiki temple located in Delhi. Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal started his politics by putting a broom in this temple. Now the demand to name the Talkatora Stadium after Maharishi Valmiki has started gaining momentum. According to sources, it can be approved on June 12.
