Team India Test captain Shubman Gill scored fierce runs on England tour and took many records. From the first match of the Test series, Gill started showing his bat. In such a situation, the team and fans started expecting a big innings in every match. Especially in the last Test, it was necessary for Team India that captain Gill was required to stay, but he ignored the biggest warning of his own coach. As a result, he put the ax on his own feet and put the team in trouble.
In the first innings of the last match of the Test series at the Oval, the Indian team had to go for the first batting. In the first session, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul returned to the pavilion. In such a situation, Sai Sudarshan and captain Gill came to the crease and both took over the innings. The Indian team was seen in a better position and both had sent the team to the second session.
Gill committed a big ‘crime’
When the match started again after the rain interruptions, the Indian team looked in a better position. But then Indian captain Gill made that mistake, which is considered the biggest crime for the batsmen. Fast bowler Gas Atkinson’s ball was defended by captain Gill on the front foot and the ball went towards the short cover. Gill wanted to take a run fast, Gasudarshan was not fully prepared for this. Atkinson ran fast and caught the ball and before Gill could return to the crease, the English bowler’s exact throw stumps.

Gill was dismissed by 21 runs and thus the 45 -run partnership between Sai Sudarshan was broken, while the Indian team unnecessarily lost its third wicket. It was clearly visible in the replay that there was no need to take this run there. In this way, Shubman Gill was run out only for the second time in his Test career and for the first time on foreign land. Incidentally, for the first time too, he was run out against England. In the Test played in 2024 in Rajkot, he returned to the pavilion after scoring 91 runs.
The coach did not have to agree heavy
The most special thing about this run was that Gill and Sudarshan had already received a warning about it. Both these players playing for Gujarat Titans in IPL received warning from his head coach Ashish Nehra in the franchise. In fact, Ashish Nehra, who is doing commentary during the Manchester Test match, had revealed about the running of Gill and Sudarshan that he was also run out in IPL several times in an attempt to steal runs in this way. Nehra also revealed that every time he used to advise both of them not to do ‘suicide’ in this way. But it seems that Gill forgot his coach’s advice and put Team India in trouble.
